In 2012, after speaking with several other friends with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D) about the lack of peer support, peer leadership, and self-advocacy, Erin Gildner and a friend, Kesha Pilot, started looking into starting a chapter of the United Spinal Association; but then life got in the way for both of them.
Fast forward to the fall of 2015, after Erin got a boost of confidence by attending the annual chapter leadership meeting in Las Vegas, she came back and got to work. United Spinal Arkansas now has a fully functioning board and is a real 501 (c) (3) organization registered and in good standing with the state of Arkansas and is a subordinate organization of the United Spinal Association.
